THIRDWAY ALLIANCE PROPOSES NEW CHANGES ON ELECTION LAWS
Thirdway Alliance Kenya is set to table a bill in parliament to amend the Elections Act 2012 to make it easy for Members of Parliament who boycott house business to lose their seats and be barred from running again for a public office.
The proposed amendment, they say, is intended to stop wastage of public funds paid to MPs of parties/coalitions boycotting house business committees.
The bill proposes to ease the process of recall of MPs of either the Majority or Minority parties or coalitions that fail to present names of committee members within 14 days after any house of parliament convenes or 14 days after enactment of this bill into law. It also proposes that the affected MPs be charged for obtaining public money fraudulently under the penal code.
